Two Weeks to Go
We are looking forward as I am sure you all are to returning to the golf course on Monday April 26th. No effort has been spared in getting the course ready and you will be pleasantly surprised as the trees and shrubs have sprung into colour during the last few weeks. We would ask you to be mindful of the Covid 19 restrictions and the Golf Ireland Protocol. Remember, it’s Members Only and tee times must be booked in advance. The usual West Waterford Welcome awaits and we are looking forward to seeing you back over

COVID-19, GOLF IRELAND HQ 30 March 2021
Following this evening’s announcement from the Irish Government, it has been confirmed that golf will be one of the first sports to resume for mass participation in the Republic of Ireland.
We welcome the fact that golf, along with tennis, will be the first sports which will open from April 26th. While this is some weeks away, we look forward to members having the opportunity to exercise and play golf in a safe manner.
Following intensive engagement with the Department of Sport and Sport Ireland, Golf Ireland  has drafted a Return

Easter Greetings
We would like to extend Easter Greetings to all our members and friends. Looking forward to seeing you all in the near future

Bí Ullamh
Yes, it’s time to get ready. It looks as though the long wait is finally coming to an end. Why not check your golf bag, your buggy, your battery and your golf shoes. Make sure you have a second golf ball just in case you might lose one following the long lay-off. It mightn’t be any harm to get the body back in shape if you haven’t been doing so recently. Spring is

Good News Week
St Patrick’s Day has come and gone and even if the regular celebrations were put on hold for a second year, what a week it’s been for Irish sport. Rachael Blackmore on Honeysuckle rode her way into history at Cheltenham. Ireland delivered for Stander at the Aviva with a comprehensive 32-18 victory over England. Add a week of glorious Spring sunshine with daylight until after 7pm and maybe thing are looking up despite the doom and gloom of covid.

Announcement Expected at the Weekend
As April 5th approaches we are told to expect an announcement this weekend

Happy St Patricks Day
We would like to wish all our members a happy and safe St Patrick’s Day.
A parade, a putt and a pint would be nice but let’s all Stand Firm until we can celebrate together before too long.

One week Closer
The waiting game goes on but at least we are moving closer to the proposed date for the lifting of Level 5 restrictions on April 5th. There is still a large amount of uncertainty as to when golf clubs will reopen. Tánaiste Leo Varadkar said the hope is still that rules limiting construction,

One week Closer
The waiting game goes on but at least we are moving closer to the proposed date for the lifting of Level 5 restrictions on April 5th. That means another 4 weeks at least before we see golf clubs reopening. Certainly the weather over the past weekend would have been ideal for golfing with daylight hours moving gradually moving closer to 7pm. We can dream about going out at 4.30 and getting 9 holes played. The good news is that our course crew are working hard in getting the course into shape. As you are aware the grass

One Year of Covid-19
As we mark one year since the discovery of the first case of covid 19 in Ireland I think it’s appropriate that we pause to remember all those who passed away during the pandemic. We also say a very special Thank You to all the frontline workers who put their own lives at risk to protect us during the past twelve months. As we eagerly await the imminent reopening of West Waterford golf club maybe we could be a little more patient and appreciate the fact that we are still around to experience the joys of

When will Golf Clubs Reopen
To say the least there is still a lot of uncertainty as to when golf clubs will be allowed to open. For us golfers, like everyone else, it’s been a pretty terrible time thus far and many have found this latest lockdown

Mr Edward Hickey Club Captain 2021
Edward’s golfing career began in West Waterford in 1994 when his long time friend Michael French invited him to try out his ability as a golfer. Having previously played pitch and putt Edward took to the game like a duck to water and so began a golfing career that would see him involved in the club as an active member and an invaluable committee member. A native of Old Parish it didn’t take long before he got to know the other members and take an active interest in club affairs. The weekly high handicap
