This meant the final of the FBD Series had to be postponed once again to a future date. There was some play on Saturday morning however with Kieran Lynch and Richard Mahoney bringing in two fine scores. Congrats also to Michael O’Keeffe and James Kelly for their wins during the week.

Women’s Notes
Weather Wins Out! We may be only in the third week of September but certainly the recent bad weather has played havoc with the game of golf. The scheduled Final of the FBD league had to be cancelled on Sunday and the two day 18 hole competition in aid of the Lions Club was also a casualty. Hopefully the weather Gods will be kinder this week.
Una Mulligan Scores in the David Walsh Office Supplies competition: Una Mulligan was last out on the course on Thursday evening as she raced from the office to the course to play in the David Walsh Office Supplies sponsored 18 hole stableford competition. The rush was well worth it as Una played lovely golf to return a score of 37 points playing off 24. In second we had another very busy lady who managed to get out on Thursday evening. Marie T Curran playing off 24 had 36 points. Is there a message for all us retirees!! Many thanks to David Walsh Office Supplies for sponsoring.
No Change in Golfer of the Year Standings! Who knows – it may have been the pressure but the leaders in the Golfer of the Year competition didn’t really perform in last week’s competition! Going into the last round this week Eithne Ashby holds a four point lead from Mary Lou Carroll who holds a one point lead from joint third placed Jean Conway and Jean O Donovan. The Singles matches in the Ryder Cup in Italy next Sunday may have to take a back seat as our Ladies battle it out for the final places in the Golfer of the Year league in West Waterford! The very best of luck to all concerned.
Last 18 Hole Competition this Week! The 2023 golf season has flown and it is amazing that this weekend the last 18 hole competition will run. Sponsored by Aston Crean the 18 hole stableford competition may be played on Thursday or Sunday next. There will also be a 9 hole Qualifier competition.
