Women’s Notes

MNA Eile Success for Fiona Rochford!  There is always an air of excitement when the Final of the Mna Eile series is played.  Confined to those players who have qualified through the months of May to September the final always provides an exciting climax.  Sunday was no different and while a nice soft rain fell all day the players were not deterred.  Fiona Rochford from Dungarvan enjoyed her visit when playing off 27 she returned a winning score of 37 points.  Fiona will definitely enjoy her trip to Druids Glen.  Beaten on the countback we had our own Jo Swayne playing off 16 also with 37 points.  Jo is enjoying a super run of form over the last few months and was a particularly good winner of our Lady Captain’s prize this year.  Jennifer Kingston from Lismore playing off 13 finished in third place with a very nice score of 36 points.  On behalf of our Lady Captain Nora Flynn I would like to thank all those players from visiting Clubs, and, of course our own Members who supported the competition throughout the Summer.  Sincere thanks to our Sponsors Super Valu who sponsored the Final and to Michael Dunne Accountants who sponsored all the qualifying rounds.  We are looking forward to the 2024 series already!

Ciara Donnelly off to The Local!  Running over Sunday Sept 11th and Thurs Sept 14th the 18 Hole Stableford competition kindly sponsored by The Local Bar and Restaurant in Dungarvan produced plenty of good golf.  Ciara Donnelly played great golf to secure first place with 38 points playing off 27.  In second place we had one of the most consistent players in the club, Eithne Ashby who plays off 25 and on this occasion returned a score of 36 points.  Sincere thanks to our sponsors The Local.

Golfer of the Year League Poised for Exciting Finish!  The Golfer of the Year league is really hotting up!  Since the beginning of April all 18 hole competitions have counted for the Golfer of the Year league with each player’s 10 best cards deciding the outcome.  As we go to Press Eithne Ashby has a four point lead with 363 points.  In second place we have Mary Lou Carroll with 359 points while in joint third we have the two Jeans, Jean Conway and Jean O Donovan both on 358 points.  The next competition which is an 18 hole stableford competition kindly sponsored by David Walsh Office Supplies  will be held on this Thursday September 21stThe final decider will take place on Thursday 28th or October 1st when the Aston Crean sponsored 18 hole stableford competition will take place.  Watch this space!
