Driving Range Planning Application
On Saturday night, Jim McGrath delivered a presentation to members on the club’s recent Driving Range planning application, outlining plans to develop a new Driving Range and Golf Academy. The proposed development aims to create a modern, accessible sporting facility for both members and the wider community.
This project represents a significant step in the club’s long-term vision to provide a valuable recreational and sporting resource for West Waterford, while fostering a welcoming environment for people of all ages and abilities to engage with golf.
The development will include six covered practice bays, six uncovered practice bays, a dedicated coaching area, and a year-round facility catering for beginners and experienced adult players alike.
The Driving Range and Golf Academy will offer an accessible sporting outlet for the wider community, promoting health, wellbeing and social interaction. It will further strengthen the club’s role as a community hub and a provider of inclusive sporting opportunities. This initiative is about more than golf — it is about creating a shared facility that will benefit West Waterford for years to come.
To support the project, the club is launching a sponsorship initiative in conjunction with its annual Club Classic. Premium advertising opportunities and donation packages are available for businesses, alongside a ‘Buy a Brick’ initiative for individual supporters.
Jim also highlighted the value of investing not only in West Waterford Golf Club, but in a lasting community facility for the entire West Waterford region. He encouraged members and supporters to consider the pride and satisfaction of contributing to such a project, with opportunities for recognition through advertising placements within the facility and inclusion on a future ‘Wall of Recognition’.
