Club Winter League Sponsored by Comeragh Oil

The club’s Winter League, kindly sponsored by Comeragh Oil, concluded on Friday, 13 March. This year’s competition has been a fantastic success, with a lot of positive comment on the format. It was fantastic to see both ladies and gents playing in the same groupings over the last few weeks, creating great connections and camaraderie within the club.

The final week saw the added incentive of double points awarded, prompting an excellent response with more than 200 rounds played over the seven days. The increased activity also brought notable changes on the leaderboard, with several teams making significant progress in the closing stages.

Final scores are currently being compiled, and the winners will be announced at a presentation in the clubhouse on Saturday evening at 6.30pm. Prizes will also be presented for best individual Gents’ 13-hole, best individual 9-hole, best individual Ladies’ 13-hole and best individual Ladies’ 9-hole, along with the weekly spot prize recipients.

St. Patrick’s 18-Hole Open 3-Person Champagne Scramble, sponsored by Kevin O’Leary group.

Play returned to full 18-hole competition last Saturday with the staging of the club’s Open 18-Hole 3-Person Champagne Scramble, kindly sponsored by the Kevin O’Leary Group, authorised dealers for Opel, Renault and Dacia. The club is sincerely grateful to the team in Clonmel for their generous support.

The course has been presented in excellent condition and has shown impressive resilience following the recent spell of very wet weather, reflecting the positive impact of the drainage works completed last year.

The competition, open to any combination of ladies and gents, will continue through to St Patrick’s Day, with re-entry permitted. A strong range of prizes is on offer for the leading teams, as well as for the leading mixed and ladies’ teams. Tee times can be booked via the BRS app, online through the club website, or by contacting the Pro Shop on 058 43216.

The club looks forward to welcoming both members and visitors for what promises to be an enjoyable and well-supported weekend of golf.

Lost and Found

Finally, the lost and found bin at the club has recently yielded a rather suspicious item: a above wide-brimmed hat of questionable origin.

It is believed that this headgear may belong to a local “specialist” with a very persuasive need for high scores, but who suffers from a chronic allergy to the Handicap Secretary. Rumours have been swirling that several such “entrepreneurs” have been operating in the vicinity recently. However, it has been noted that one suspect made several visits to the “Bob Rotella of Dungarvan” for some clandestine 1-to-1 coaching. The results have been terrifying. This once-harmless shanker has been transformed into a lethal scoring machine, vacuuming up stableford points with the cold-blooded efficiency.

Members are officially advised to keep a sharp eye out for this clientele. If you see someone in a suspicious hat standing over a 40-foot birdie putt, do not approach. They are considered armed and dangerous—mostly with a scorecard that would make Colin in the Pro shop blush.
