Ladies Notes

Fine Win for Denise Nugent in President’s Prize to the Ladies:  On Sunday last Jim Moroney President of WWGC put up a lovely prize for the ladies.  The weather conditions were difficult but Denise Nugent brought her A game to West Waterford on Sunday.  Playing off 23 Denise returned a fabulous score of a 66 nett and it wonderful to see such a talented player back on the podium.  Another player who is playing super golf at the moment is Mary Fahey.  On Sunday Mary was leader in the Clubhouse until the last pairing came in.  Mary had a great 69 playing off 29 to take second.

The Gross went to June Whyte playing off 19 with 91.  June is a player returning to form.  Jean O Donovan who features in almost every competition she plays in had a solid score of 73 nett playing off 28 to take Third.  Mary Lou Carroll, who is rarely out of the prizes won Cat A 0-23 with a nett score of 76 playing off 19.  In Cat B (24-29) another regular winner Ciara Donnelly playing off 26 had a 74 nett to take the category while the Cat C (30-36) threw up a real surprise when Frances Carroll won with a nett 78 playing off 33.  Surprises are nice!  In Cat D (37-54) Trish O Shea returned a score of 78 nett playing off 36. I have no doubt that Trish will be on top of that podium very soon.  On behalf of our Lady Captain

Nora I would like to thank Jim for his absolutely gorgeous prize.

Get Into Golf Outstanding Prizes Presentation:  On Tuesday evening last the Club was busy as the Get into Golf players had a presentation of all outstanding prizes.  There was a great spread of prize winners and I think the future looks bright.  Una Mulligan  co-ordinator of the Get into Golf programme congratulated all the winners.

Dalton Jewellers Club Matchplay:  It is that time of year again when we get a chance to go head to head with our fellow club members in Singles Matchplay!    Some people are more expert at it than others but it is always great fun.  For the unlucky first round losers there will be a Plate section.  Dalton Jewellers have been sponsoring this event for many years.  It is an honour to get your name inscribed on that Winners trophy.

AIB Ardkeen 18 Hole Stableford:  On Sunday next the Ardkeen Waterford branch of AIB sponsor an 18 hole stableford competition.  There will also be an 9 Hole Qualifier competition
