Club Winter League Sponsored by Comeragh Oil
The club’s Winter League, proudly sponsored by Comeragh Oil, is now approaching its penultimate stage. Comeragh Oil have been fantastic supporters of this annual competition for more than 30 years, and the club is extremely grateful for their continued sponsorship again this season.
Last weekend saw a special scoring incentive introduced, with double points awarded for each player’s best 9-hole and 13-hole cards. This bonus scoring will remain in place through to the conclusion of the league on Friday, March 15th.
Great credit must go to the team captains who have ensured excellent participation from their players throughout the competition. Their efforts have helped produce very strong turnouts in recent weeks, resulting and with the bonus scores, a big impact on the league table positions as we head into the final days.
To maintain the tension, the final team placings will not now be revealed until the league has officially concluded. However, several teams remain in contention and still can influence the final standings over the coming days.
In the individual competitions, the men’s section appears close to being decided, with one or two players holding a strong lead heading into the final week. The ladies’ section, however, remains very competitive, with the possibility of late changes should players produce improved scores in the remaining rounds.

Strange Happenings at the Club…
We happened upon a most unusual scene at the golf club this week — an event so rare that it stopped several members in their tracks.
In the photograph, one well-known individual can clearly be seen handing a crisp €20 note to another equally familiar figure. Yes, you read that correctly — handing over money without debate, delay or a call for VAR. Rumours are circulating as to the cause of this event, but sources close to the scene claim there was “very little discussion,” which only adds to the mystery. Several witnesses have confirmed there was no appeals to the committee, the handicap secretary, or the rule book.
If anyone has reliable information as to what exactly occurred, this reporter would be very interested to hear more. Until then, members are advised to keep a close eye on proceedings around the clubhouse… as such strange happenings may not occur again for quite some time.
