Ladies notes 15-Jan-2023

Sympathy:  On behalf of our Lady Captain Nora Flynn I would like to offer Denise Nugent and family our sincere sympathy on the recent death of her beloved father John.  May he Rest in Peace.

Winter League:  I thought there had been a slow start to the Winter League due to the horrible weather conditions.  How wrong was I.  When I entered the competition today I noticed that there were almost 50 players out playing since December 27th.  A special mention to our Get into Golf players who are really embracing the competition.  All I can say is that it augers very well for the competition.  I will need to get out as soon as possible to improve on my rather paltry tally of points!

The first round closes on January 31st so there is plenty of time left to add to your team’s tally.  Two cards must be submitted.

Ongoing 9 Hole –  The January 9 hole is progressing nicely with a very good entry to date.  Playing a regular 9 holes is a great way to improve your golf.

New Look for West Waterford –  During the last week West Waterford has got a new facelift – the roadway down to the Club has had a new road dressing applied and looks fabulous.  Shades of Silverstone!

Membership –  If you wish to renew your membership or join West Waterford please contact Gillian at 058-43216 or check out our offers online and on social media.

Seamus Power – This week-end we got a taste of what the Ryder Cup team might look like when the inaugural running of the Hero Trophy was played in Abu Dhabi. A Europe team played a GB & Ireland selection. Seamus teamed up with Robert McIntyre on the Friday and  enjoyed a comprehensive victory for the GB and Ireland team contributing an all important point to the team. On Sunday’s singles he had a narrow defeat to a very good young Danish player.  Throughout the three days Seamus played some super golf – so fingers crossed for a good season ahead.
