West Waterford Golf Club – Ladies Notes
Spring is in the Air! I have spent quite a bit of time in West Waterford this week. Sometimes playing golf, sometimes attending meetings and most times just socialising! The course is in super condition and it is great to see all 18 holes in play. Morrie Ferncombe and his team have worked hard throughout the Winter and the results are really showing. The greens are super and the fairways are now being mown making it a little easier to get that white ball moving. What can I say about the re-vamped par 3 11th. The big hedge in front of the tee box has disappeared and been replaced by some very smart white rope. You can really go for the green now but beware the lake which protects this quirky hole!
Noel Baldwin and Jim Moroney and their teams are very busy putting finishing touches to the areas in and around the Clubhouse. I hear that Power Washing is next on the agenda so all should be sparkling in the next few weeks.
The Kitchen Garden Café: The Kitchen Garden Café will open on the 1st March from Wednesday to Sunday inclusive. Open to the public, why not drop out to West Waterford for a beautiful breakfast or lunch or just a tasty snack accompanied by a fabulous cup of coffee! I recommend the cakes and sweet treats and you may even go home with a scrumptious loaf of healthy brown bread
A Little about the Golf – Winter League: I wish I had competition results every week and I look forward to the Summer season when there is something happening on the competitive front! In the meantime the Winter League continues throwing up some interesting results. All I can say is that yours truly was beaten by in Matchplay by Trish O Shea who was a deserving winner and played some really nice golf. The final is scheduled for Sunday March 26th.
Captains Drive In: On Sunday March 12th Michael Cass and Nora Flynn will be setting the golf season alight as they tee up the season. A scramble will follow with the Presentation of prizes later in the Clubhouse.
March 9 Hole : The March ongoing 9 hole gets underway on the 1st March.
