‘Play in Pink’ added Blue this year
Last Sunday, we had a great turnout for our Play in Pink breast cancer research fundraiser day, with both ladies and gents playing golf and contributing to the donation box to help find cures for a disease that has impacted most families in one way or another.
It started Sunday morning with a Men’s singles competition, where Tony Condon topped the charts. More importantly, he probably won the money in that fourball too, although no evidence has been presented to verify this fact.
In the afternoon, the ladies — and a few more gents — turned up for the fun scramble. I have to say, the ladies made a real effort, with Una McGlynn winning the prize for most ‘fun’ outfit. Sorry to report, however, the men were a bit less adventurous, with Dinny Looby’s sunglasses earning him the men’s prize. The only outstanding question that remains from the day: did Davy Condon get the eagle putt on the 8th?
Well done to all the organisers for a great bit of craic, and more importantly, thank you to everyone who took part and donated over €1,000 to this great cause.
Play in Pink is the golf fundraising initiative of the National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI), supported by Golf Ireland. Last year, more than 230 clubs across Ireland took part, with all funds going directly toward breast cancer research. With 1 in 7 Irish women diagnosed with breast cancer before the age of 75, it’s a cause that touches so many families — and one our own club is proud to get behind.

Golf Ireland Munster Eleanor Tivy Cup at West Waterford GC
This week, we will welcome over 120 ladies from 40 clubs across Munster to West Waterford for the 2026 Eleanor Tivy Cup. This is an annual women’s inter-club golf competition run by Golf Ireland in the Munster region. It features an 18-hole singles Stableford format played by teams of three players representing their local clubs.
We wish our own team of Ciara, Marie T and Jean the best of luck in this competition.
Ladies – Open 3-Person Scramble with a Twist
This upcoming Thursday, 27th August, we will host a Ladies 3-Person Scramble with a twist. The format is a Florida (or “step-aside”) scramble.
Here’s how it works: all three players tee off, and the team picks the best drive. Now for the twist — the player whose shot was chosen must sit out the next stroke, so only the other two players play the second shot. Whoever hits the best second shot then sits out the third, and so on until the hole is finished. At the next tee, all three players tee off again as normal.

Friday Evening Fun Scrambles Continue
We were delighted to see some of our Get into Golf participants at last Friday evening’s scramble. Remember, there’s nothing to be shy about — even Niall got a chance to win a prize (with a little help from his two fantastic junior golfers who got him round!).
So everyone, come along on Friday evenings for a bit of craic — whether you’re a long-time member, new to the club, or a Get into Golfer, it’s all about having fun. And you might even win a prize. Registration is between 5:30pm and 6pm.
Our Seanóirí group also continues to meet at 10:30am every Monday. Whether it’s the golf or just the tea, coffee and a few nice treats you’re after, all members are warmly encouraged to come along.
