Ladies and Gent’s Clubs AGMs

The Annual General Meetings of both the Ladies’ and Gents’ Clubs will take place on Monday 19th October at 7:30pm in the clubhouse. A full report will be included in next week’s news.

Over 170 players tee-up for the annual Comeragh Oil Winter League

A record entry of over 170 members will tee off in the Comeragh Oil Winter League 2026 when it begins on Monday, 19th October. The league runs for just over two months, finishing on Saturday, 19th December. Points will be doubled in the final week, so the title could stay undecided until the very end.

Players have been placed into 20 mixed teams of eight or nine, with teams communicated this weekend via club WhatsApp groups. However, only each team’s top seven players count towards the result. Each team has a captain, who will liaise with the Winter League management group on publishing results, encourage team-mates and keep an eye on how the team is faring. One of the league’s main attractions is its flexibility, as outlined below.

What you can do

  • Play as often as you like, whenever you like, throughout the league.
  • Play either nine holes or 13 holes on the same day.
  • Submit as many cards as you wish. Your best six (three 13-hole and three nine-hole) will count.
  • Play alongside members of any age or category. Teams are mixed across ladies, gents and juniors.

What you cannot do

  • Submit both a nine-hole and a 13-hole card for the same round.

The entry fee for the league has been deducted from each participants competition purse over the past weekend.

We are delighted that Paddy Joe Ryan and the team at Comeragh Oil have sponsored this year’s competition, continuing a partnership that has lasted more than 30 years.

Open 3-Person Scramble, October Bank Holiday Weekend

Next weekend is the October Bank Holiday, and we’re running an open 3-person scramble.

It’s a great way to spend the long weekend. Grab two friends, put a team together and come out for a relaxed day of golf. A scramble is easy to play and good fun whatever your handicap, so everyone gets a good go, and you’ll be out on some of the best greens in the country.

Whether you’re a regular or haven’t played in a while, you’re very welcome.

Book through BRS, on our website, www.westwaterfordgolf.com, or give the pro shop a call on 058-43216.
