Christmas 9 Hole Scramble
The House and Social Committee Christmas Scramble was held on Sunday 17th December. It was a great success with players returning to the clubhouse afterwards where they enjoyed a warm bowl of soup courtesy of The Food Doc.
Coming Soon – Fantasy Golf!!
With the winter weather not being very conducive to actual golf for many, there is absolutely no excuse not to play a bit of Fantasy Golf!! The inaugural Fantasy Golf League will be run over the first 10 tournaments of the 2024 PGA Tour season beginning on January 4th with the The Sentry Tournament, where our own Seamus Power will be playing. Pick your roster of 4 starters and 2 bench players before each tournament and follow your progress in the weekly league table. Open to all, get your family and friends involved and have fun competing for bragging rights! Entry to the league is €10. Keep an eye on WhatsApp groups in the coming days for the launch.
Women’s Notes
Winter League
Winter league teams are posted in the locker room. Round one of the winter league began on Sunday 10th December and continues to 31/1/24.
What’s on for the Week
Nollaig na mBan 9 hole sponsored by Kellys Pharmacy continues to 4/1/24.
December ongoing 9 Hole Sponsored Kathleen Broderick continues to 31/12/23.
Winter League commences 10/12/23 and continues until the 31/02/24.
Men’s Notes
Men’s Winter League 2024
After no play at all in week 5, things ramped up a bit in week 6 of the Comeragh Oil Winter League. There were 26 league scores recorded last week, including a couple of 32 pointers by Diarmuid Horgan and Ken Fenton who took home the individual prizes. Overall, the league is 40 scores or so behind schedule at the halfway point of qualifying with 175/425 scores recorded. Team Q continue to lead the way, increasing their total to 359 points overall. On the individual front, there are now 8 players who have recorded their full compliment of 5 scores or more, but there are still 19 players yet to play any round. Time is quickly running out for these men who are encouraged to play as soon as possible.

Winter Rules
Please note the following Winter Rules in play for the duration of the Winter period:
- Place on the ground within 6 inches on Fairway & Rough.
- Bunkers: Out of play until further notice*. Drop outside bunker at nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole
- Buggies are not permitted on the course until further notice*
- *Keep an eye on the noticeboard and BRS for updates in relation to Bunker and Buggy status
Note: Given the soft ground conditions, a temporary rule is in place allowing players a free drop if a ball cannot be found in open ground, in agreement with playing partners.

Seamus and Gary News
After a quiet end to 2023 our touring Professionals, Seamus Power and Gary Hurley, are busily preparing for the new season ahead. Seamus will hopefully be injury free when he kicks off his season in January on the PGA Tour and Gary is getting ready for another tilt at the DP World Tour in the new year. There will be regular updates here as soon as both are back in action and on behalf of everyone in West Waterford we wish both Seamus and Gary the very best of luck for 2024.
