Mr Edward Hickey Club Captain 2021
Edward’s golfing career began in West Waterford in 1994 when his long time friend Michael French invited him to try out his ability as a golfer. Having previously played pitch and putt Edward took to the game like a duck to water and so began a golfing career that would see him involved in the club as an active member and an invaluable committee member. A native of Old Parish it didn’t take long before he got to know the other members and take an active interest in club affairs. The weekly high handicap

A tribute by Pat Murphy on behalf of West Waterford Golf Club
It was with deep sadness and loss that we learned of the untimely death of our esteemed founding President Derry Twomey. Derry passed away peacefully on 22nd January 2021. Pre deceased by his wonderful wife Bernie in September 2007, who also served as the first Lady Captain of West Waterford golf club.

Little did we think that 12 months on the country would be in lockdown and all golfing activity at a standstill. But even as we console ourselves by laying low and watching Sky Sports and doing our daily excercise there’s tentative talk of when we can expect life as normal to resume. In the meantime we must keep up the fight against the pandemic and as the evenings grow longer we can dare to dream of the light at the end

Seamus Power got a chance to test his elbow and make a move towards winning back full playing rights after grabbing a last-gasp spot in last week’s Sony Open in Hawaii.
The West Waterford star was hoping to make his first start since the November surgery on his right elbow in The American Express at La Quinta in California this week. But as first alternate for the Sony Open, he was thrilled to get a late call to jet out to Waialae Country Club after Jonathan Vegas withdrew after a positive Covid-19 test.
It was Power’s fourth start in the
