Denise Nugent tops the charts in Mná Eile Final.

Over 40 ladies who had qualified through this year’s ladies-only series gathered last weekend for the final, and while an autumn mist did its best to spoil the day, it couldn’t dampen the golf. It came right down to the wire, with our own Denise Nugent edging out Bernadette Carroll (Cahir Park GC) on countback after both finished on 38 points. Margaret Geary-O’Sullivan (East Cork GC) rounded out the podium in third on 35.

There’s just one chance left to book a place in the Summer Series Grand Final, which takes place next Sunday, 20th September. This Friday, 18th, is the last opportunity to qualify alongside those who have already made the cut.

There’s plenty to play for too, with over €3,000 in prizes on offer, including a top-of-the-range Motocaddy Electric Trolley for the winner in each of the three categories, kindly sponsored by Al Eile Stud.

It’s shaping up to be one of the highlights of the summer calendar, so those who have already qualified should get in touch with the Pro Shop to book their tee time for Sunday morning. And for anyone yet to secure a spot, this Friday is your last chance to join them.

Irish Injured Jockeys Golf Classic at West Waterford

This Wednesday, 16th September, the club welcomes friends from the racing world for the Irish Injured Jockeys Golf Classic. With good weather forecast, it should be a great day out. A handful of slots remain for the 9.30am shotgun start for anyone still hoping to play, though the afternoon slots are now full.

Irish Injured Jockeys provides vital, confidential support to riders facing career-ending injuries and other personal difficulties, working with medical experts to make sure they get the care they need. Given the club’s own ties to the racing world through Chairman and local trainer Paddy Corkery, the day carries extra meaning locally. Speaking to Racing TV recently, the charity’s General Manager, Michael Higgins, spoke about the support offered to jockeys during those difficult times — a reminder of why days like this matter so much to the racing community.

Driving Range Update

Great progress continues on our new driving range. The covered bays are now fully enclosed, and over the end of last week, and next week, the cables for electricity and Trackman will be laid on the site. The Trackman equipment itself has now landed and will be installed in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Pat Murphy has been busy planting up the beds around the area, adding a welcome bit of colour as the facility takes shape.

A gentle reminder, if you are planning to support our “Buy a Brick” fundraising campaign, now is the time. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to completing a facility that will benefit our club, our community and future generations. You can purchase a brick through the Pro Shop, by bank transfer (details in the clubhouse), or through any Management Committee member.
