Séamus Power Eyes PGA Championship After Mixed Finish in Myrtle Beach

Séamus Power will turn his attention to the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow next week after a mixed showing at the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic. Séamus opened with a blistering 64 but saw his chances slip with a second-round 76, eventually finishing in a tie for 36th following closing rounds of 69 and 69.

Despite the disappointment in Myrtle Beach, Power has every reason to look ahead with optimism. The PGA Championship, the second major of the season, takes place from May 15 to 18 at Quail Hollow Club in North Carolina — a venue where he has performed steadily in recent years. He secured his place in the field by finishing inside the top 70 on the PGA Championship points list.

This will mark Power’s third appearance in the PGA Championship. Notably, he has posted four top-30 finishes in his last five starts at Quail Hollow, a sign that his familiarity with the course could prove valuable as he bids to make an impact on the major stage.

Mixed Fourball Team Advances to Third Round

West Waterford’s Mixed Fourball team made a strong start to their Golf Ireland Mixed Fourball inter-club campaign, with an impressive 3–1 win over Waterford Castle Golf Club in last weekend’s home fixture. The team now progresses to the third round, where they will face the winners of the Dungarvan GC vs. Williamstown GC tie.

Looking ahead to next weekend, it’s shaping up to be a busy period on the inter-club front for West Waterford. The Jimmy Brien team will host Williamstown GC at home, with tee-off set for 1:30pm. Meanwhile, the Barton Shield team begins their campaign on Saturday at 2:30pm in Faithlegg GC. There’s little time for rest, as they’re back in action on Sunday at 3:00pm in the Senior Cup at the Gold Coast GC.
