Winter League Scores make Interesting Reading! The January round of the Winter league concluded on the 31st January. The Hybrids captained by Una Mulligan have got off to a flying start returning a total score of 74 Points. The team comprises Una Mulligan, Ger Curran, Bridget Broderick, Anne Phelan and Margaret Looby. In second place we have the Joan Sheehan captained team The Right Hookers with a good score of 68 points. Team members include Joan Sheehan, Mary Herlihy, Joan Nugent, Ann Hogan and Teresa Ahearne. Sharing the third slot with 66 points are The Irons captained by Mary Curran and comprising Marie T Curran, Bridget Blackwell, Mary Curran, Rosemary Sexton and Vicky Mulligan. Also with 66 points we have The Pitchers captained by Suzanne Dalton supported by Denise Nugent, Stella Kinsella, Doireann Cotter and Therese Troy.
Down the field we have The Drivers with 63 points, The Wedges with 62 points followed by the Jiggers and The Lobbers. We have a long way to go and I am sure that the competition will be intense between now and the end of March! Just a little reminder that team members are also required to play two match play matches against their opposite number between now and the end of March. The draw for these matches is posted up in the Clubhouse.
The Winter League will be played over 13 holes for February and March. There is great activity in the competition with team members re-entering the competition in an effort to improve their score. The Get into Golf players have also made a huge effort to get out and play and are contributing valuable points to their respective teams.
Jean Conway back on Winners Podium! It was great to see Jean Conway back on the winners podium in the ongoing January 9 hole competition kindly sponsored by Ciara Donnelly. Jean playing off 11 had 28 points. Joan Sheehan made a good comeback to Winter golf when filling the second slot. Playing off 12 Joan had 21 points. In third place we had our hardworking Competitions secretary Phil Kelly playing off 14 with 16 points.
February Ongoing 9 Hole Competition: The ongoing 9 hole competition is underway. The playing conditions are very good and the evenings are getting a little longer! Playing a quick 9 hole is really good practice for the Summer season ahead.
