Men’s Captains Prize (Niall Colleran)
Our popular and hard-working 2024 Captain, Niall Colleran, will host his Captain’s Prize from Thursday 13th to Saturday 15th June. One Qualifying round must be played on either Thursday 13th or Friday 14th, with the leaders going through to the final on Saturday 15th. On behalf of everyone in West Waterford, I wish Niall the very best for his big weekend and with any luck the good weather will continue and he’ll have a great turnout.
Gary Goes Close In Spain!
The notes have been a little quiet in relation to Gary Hurley for a while now, but he has been quietly building a nice run of steady results on the Challenge Tour in 2024. And at this week’s Challenge de Cadiz in Spain, he came oh so close to gaining a precious win. Standing four shots behind the eventual winner going into the last round, Gary produced a best of the day 66 to get within one shot. A solo second place is a nice consolation and the points gained sees him at 18th place in the overall standings. The Top 20 at year end gain automatic promotion to the DP World Tour. Congratulations Gary from all here in West Waterford and best of luck for the rest of the season.
Seamus Sets Off To Pinehurst!
It was another solid week from Seamus at this week’s Memorial Tournament on the PGA Tour. A +5 total was good enough for a tie for 27th place on the difficult Muirfield Village layout which sees him in 70th place in the FedEx Cup standings. There are two big weeks ahead for Seamus now, starting with the US Open this week at the famous Pinehurst No.2 course. After doing so well to qualify for his first major of the season, he will be hoping to capitalize with a big performance that could see him push for the elusive top 50 who get into next year’s Signature events. Our very best wishes are with Seamus this week.
