No Luck For Gary in K-Club

On Thursday morning Gary Hurley teed off in the Irish Challenge at the Palmer Course in the K-Club. Supported by a large and loyal group of friends and family, unfortunately the day saw him have no luck on the greens and he ended with a score of +3. After the round he was in good spirits and said he was happy with where his game overall and promised a better day on Friday. Sure enough, he shot -2 and was unlucky to just miss the cut by one shot. At this high level, the margins are very tight, but there is no doubt Gary looked comfortable in his surroundings. Best of luck to him for the remainder of his season.

Junior Academy News

On Tuesday 30th July, West Waterford hosted round 4 of the 2024 Deise league in conjunction with Open Week. Forty two juniors from all across Waterford County travelled to our club on the day and the weather couldn’t have been better. The general consensus from the players as they finished was that West Waterford is a lovely, if difficult, course! Home advantage definitely played its part as is reflected in the scoring below. Big congratulations to David Prendergast and Kieran Murphy who both returned excellent scores of 44pts, with David sinking a birdie putt on the last green to win with the better back nine. Then Ted Lynch came in 4th place with 38pts, just pipped from getting 3rd place himself on the back nine. With three of top 4 scores, it was inevitable that West Waterford also won the team prize on the day, especially when young Jayden Murphy returned an excellent 37pts playing off the white tees for the first time for our 4th counting score. Thank you to Delia who was a great help on the day and also to John and Marie from the Food Doc who were there to serve any hungry golfers. Thank you also to Denn Feeds for sponsoring the prizes.
