Best of Luck To Barton Boys!

Thanks to their nail biting win over our neighbours Dungarvan GC in round 1, our Barton Shield panel travel to Fota Island GC next Saturday 20th July where they will take on Youghal GC. Since their good run in the Senior Cup, a big panel has been assembled and this could come in very useful should the team get through the Youghal match. Best of luck to all the lads for what promises to be a fun weekend in Fota, regardless of the result!

Junior Academy News

It was another busy week for our Junior golfers. On Tuesday morning, Anthony O’Donnell continued his great golf this Summer, taking 1st place with a score of 38pts playing off a 7 handicap. Charlie Kelly was second on 34pts.

Then on Thursday, 6 boys and girls from our cadets made the long journey to Tipperary GC to take part in the regional GolfSixes Interclub qualifier. Paired with the home team, both teams played excellent golf and couldn’t be separated on scores go 44. With only one team to qualify however, that honour went to the team from Tramore who showed their All Ireland winning form from last year with an outstanding 36. Well done to our team of Tara O’Donnell, Meabh O’Connell, Tom Halpin, Thomas Hallahan and the two Jacks, O’Connell and Halpin, who played lovely golf and showed great sportsmanship on the day.

On Saturday evening we had our regular evening for Juniors where Rueben O’Brien claimed 1st prize in the 9-hole competition from Conor Keane in second. Our cadets got in some valuable chipping and pitching practice that will serve them well in future GolfSixes events.

This week, we have round 3 of the Deise League taking place in Faithlegg GC and best of luck to the 6 boys travelling. Then on Tuesday at 6.30pm David Hayes will take a second coaching session with two groups of our Juniors.
