Inter-Club Matchplay
It has been another very successful week for the club’s inter-club teams.
On Bank Holiday Monday, the Mixed Fourball team faced a titanic battle with Tramore at home. After 18 holes tied at 2–2, Una and Mark were called upon for the playoff. After a few near misses from Tramore, Mark rolled in the par putt on the fourth extra hole to clinch the match. The four pairings — Una Mulligan & Mark Blackwell, Ciara Donnelly & David Condon, Aisling Shanahan & Conor Blackwell, and Mary Fahey & David McCarthy — now advance to the quarter-finals, where they face Cork GC away on Sunday 21st June.
On Saturday, the Barton Shield team hosted near neighbours Dungarvan GC. After a tight front nine with West Waterford just ahead, the pairings of Luke Cummins & Conor Morrissey and Eoin Conway & Philip Spratt took control from holes 10 to 13, winning by nine holes with matches finishing on the 15th. Their next outing is at Tipperary GC on 11th July.
This coming weekend sees further inter-club action. The Jimmy Bruen team have their round 2 debut at home to Carrick-on-Suir GC on Saturday 13th at 4pm, while the Pierce Purcell team travel to Gold Coast GC for their quarter-final on Sunday 14th at 2pm. Best of luck to both teams.
The Big Switch
Last weekend’s novel 18-hole open pairs competition, “The Big Switch”, proved a popular format despite mixed weather. Pairs played six holes in fourball format, six in foursomes, and the final six as singles.

The popular fun scramble continues every Monday morning at 10:30am. Entry is €5, including tea and coffee in the clubhouse afterwards. All members are warmly encouraged to join.
