West Waterford Golf Club Celebrates a Year of Growth and Success

West Waterford Golf Club’s AGM, held on Wed 27th January in the clubhouse, highlighted a year of exciting developments and achievements. A major milestone was successfully securing a Sports Capital Grant, which will fund vital course and security upgrades. The club also welcomed Mark Ruddy of Grow Sport as a fractional manager, bringing valuable expertise to enhance operations, marketing, and member engagement. Despite the weather for the first half of 2024 being very difficult for all golf courses, the club increased green fee revenue. Initiatives like the Play and Stay packages with the Park Hotel also helped attract new visitors.

Course improvements remained a priority, with drainage upgrades, new equipment, security and a project to enhance our practice facilities underway. The clubhouse also saw key enhancements, including upgraded facilities and new furniture. In 2024, the club successfully hosted prestigious Golf Ireland events, reintroduced the Men’s Senior Scratch Cup, and launched fresh fundraising initiatives. Looking ahead, the management team remains committed to enhancing the member experience on the golf course and in the clubhouse, and welcoming visitors to our club. The AGM closed with gratitude to all members, staff, and volunteers for their dedication to another successful year. Looking ahead, the club is set for an exciting year, continuing to improve and provide a welcoming community, vibrant social scene, and a tranquil yet accessible golfing experience.
