Ladies Notes w/e Sunday 28th November 2021

New Beginnings: On Wednesday last the Annual General Meeting of the Ladies Club in West Waterford was held via Zoom. Congratulations were extended to our outgoing Committee who did wonderful work in a difficult year. The club competitions were very well supported while the Revive Team raised the Club’s profile at National competition level. Special thanks were extended to Nell Suipeal who was an inspirational Captain. Nell also led the Finance Committee who succeeded in buying the Club on behalf of the Members. Well Done Nell and we look forward to you featuring among the winners for the 2021/2022 season.

New Committee: Ciara Donnelly was welcomed in as our new Lady Captain. Ciara has played an active role in the running of the Club for a number of years and we wish her well. Other Committee members include: Vice Captain: Nora Flynn, Secretary: Bridget Blackwell, Treasurer: Mary Curran, Competition Secretary: Phil Kelly, Handicap Secretary: Jean O Donovan, PRO: Frances Carroll, Comm. Members: Una Mulligan and Trish O Shea

End of Year Awards: Golfer of the Year: Bridget Blackwell was a deserving winner of the Golfer of the Year Award. Well Done Bridget. The ever consistent Deirdre Ruane won the Silver Medal while Ciara Donnelly who rarely plays a bad round won the Bronze medal

Queen of the 9 Hole Final: On Saturday last the final of the Queen of the 9 Hole competition was held. There was a good turnout and Ger Curran played lovely golf to take the prize. Well Done Ger. I have no doubt you will be featuring regularly in these Notes.

Winter League: The Winter League, kindly sponsored by Shaws kicked off on the 26th November. The teams look evenly matched and the competition will be fierce! The first round runs from the 26th November to the 19th December inclusive. The top four scores count but there are bonus points for all matches played. So to get the scores on the board you have got to go out and play for your team!

Christmas Scramble: The popular Mixed Christmas scramble will take place on Sunday 12th December. Please submit your name. You never know what you might win!!

On Going Competitions: The 9 hole and 13 Hole competitions are on going. Entries have been very good.

Marking of Cards: Golf Ireland states that all 3 handicaps i.e. Handicap Index, Playing Handicap and Course handicap must be written on the card. In Stableford competitions it is important to enter your actual score for each individual hole.. Do not leave blank even if you are not eligible to score a point. All scores must be recorded by the marker and signed in agreement with the player before being returned not later than 30 mins after you finish your round.
