Ladies Notes w/e Sunday 18th July 2021

Another great Win for West Waterford Ladies: The ladies of West Waterford continued their run of success on Saturday in their Revive Active Fourball match with victory against Dungarvan. Played in sweltering conditions the match was cliff-hanger until Ciara Donnelly and June Whyte sealed the victory for west Waterford on the 1st extra hole in Dungarvan.
Playing at home Mary Lou Carroll and Marie T Curran won on 15 while Jo Swayne and Jean Conway proved their toughness when they closed out on 18.
In Dungarvan  Denise Nugent with Finola Butler and Joanne Fox with Margaret O’Sullivan put up superb performances only to fall victim to very strong opposition. Well done to all ladies on both teams. Best of luck next Saturday when we take on Templemore in the area semi final. Well done to the manager Mary Lou Carroll on her management of of this successful team.

Junior foursomes 
On Sunday the junior foursomes team took on Thurles. On another scorching day Jo Swayne and Jean Conway had an early win at home.Meanwhile in Thurles ,June Whyte and Finola Butler along with Mary Lou Carroll and Marie T Curran were pipped by the Tipperary ladies. Well done to all.

Fixtures: There is a nine hole re entry sponsored by Mary Herlihy. Remember you use your course handicap when playing. . On Thursday 22nd we have our first Ladies Open Day – a three person champagne scramble, a very popular format, sponsored by Shaw’s Dungarvan. On Sunday 25th there is a Captain’s 9 hole to the Ladies.
Results: The Marie Maloney sponsored stroke competition was well subscribed. The lucky winner was Jean O ‘Donovan playing off 29 with a fabulous score of 67pts. Second was Jean Conway playing off 22 with 70 pts and third was Mary Curran playing off 42 with 72 pts. Well done all.
Seamus Power flies the flag for West Waterford: Seamus Power wins his first PGA tour event in the Barbasol championship, Kantucky after a sudden death play off which carried through to the sixth hole. The closing stages of this epic victory were closely followed by supporters here in West Waterford as was evident from our members comments on our app into the early hours. Congratulations Seamus, we are very proud of you.
