Ladies Notes w/e Sun 21st June 2020

Almost There! Monday next June 29th marks the introduction of Phase 4 in the Covid-19 Roadmap and with it, will come the resumption of golf competitions. This will be another step forward for the members who are enjoying the lovely golf course in West Waterford. The time-sheets are exceptionally busy, but a “Card in the Hand” will make it all the more interesting for players! Watch this space for details of the Competition calendar. Protocols to be used for entering and submitting cards will be issued to all Lady members.

Dalton Claret Jug – Club Matchplay: While we will be having a rather condensed golf season this year we hope to commence the first round of the Singles Club matchplay on July 20th. Please submit your name via the West Waterford Members Whatsapp before next Saturday. Please type Matchplay at the beginning of your message!

Results from Pre-Lockdown! I received the following results during the week. Obviously the competitions got caught up due to the sudden introduction of the lockdown in mid March!

Eithne takes the Number One Spot: In a 13 hole competition kindly sponsored by Joan Sheehan Eithne Ashby playing off 21 had a very nice 29 points! The second slot was filled by the always consistent Denise Nugent playing off 26 with 26 points. Ciara Donnelly, a regular on these Notes filled the 3rd spot playing off 28 with 24 Points.

Jo Swayne successful: In the 9 hole competition sponsored by Una Mulligan, Jo Swayne emerged a worthy winner. Playing off 16 Jo had 36 points. Hot on her heels we had Mary Herlihy playing off 34 with 35 points. Mary is another regular in the prizewinners. Deirdre Ruane playing off 16 also played well when she filled the 3rd spot with 35 points.

Winter Birdie Tree! Just for the record – congratulations to June Whyte who managed to amass the most birdies throughout the season. Not really surprising as June is a great golfer!

Thanks: I have been requested by our Lady Captain Phil Kelly to thank all members who supported the charity Barnardos by buying their very nice cotton facemasks. Your contribution will greatly assist the charity.
