Ladies Notes w/e 28th June 2020

We are Back! As I write these notes it is really great to report that our golf season is now fully underway with a large number of competitions planned. All members should receive a letter from our Lady Captain Phil Kelly this week outlining the dates and protocols in place when participating in competitions.

Thin Gin sponsor first Competition: On this Thursday July 2nd and Sunday July 5th our first 18 hole Club stableford competition will take place. Sincere thanks to Anchor Spirits for their very generous sponsorship. Good luck to everyone!

Key Dates for your Diary: Lady Captain’s Prize: 18th and 19th September –plenty of time to practice! 19th July Joan Curran Memorial: 9th August: Captain’s Prize (Diarmuid Horgan) to Ladies: 27th August Open 3 Ball sponsored by Cleanzone: 30th August: President’s Prize (Pat Murphy) to Ladies: 6th September Bernie Twomey Memorial. There will be 18 Club competitions every week plus on-going 9 hole competitions. On behalf of our Captain I would like to thank all our sponsors.

A few Notes about Entering and Playing Competitions! Time-Slots: Thursday is Ladies day in West Waterford. While you can play at any time on the time-sheet, the following time-slots are specifically reserved for Ladies: 9.30am to 10.30am, 2.00pm to 3.00pm and 5.30pm to 6.30pm. Entry Fees: Please bring your own Pen. Please use one envelope per competition i.e. if you are entering an 18 hole and 9 hole competition you will be using two envelopes. Bunkers: Bunkers are in play – the ball must be played “as it lies”. Rakes have been removed. Provisional Ball: A Provisional Ball must be played if you are in a situation where you think your previous ball may be lost.

Guests – Important Notice: If you have invited a guest to play please ensure that they sign in and pay relevant green fees before going out on the course. Under the Covid-19 regulations it is a requirement that we have contact details for all guests visiting the Club.

Dalton Matchplay: July 11th is the closing date for the Dalton Jewellers Matchplay Singles competition. A list has now been put up in the Locker room. The first rounds will commence on July 20th.

Eileen Murphy Competition: The Eileen Murphy competition will be played throughout the month of July. Entry fee is €10 per person. The successful winning pair will enjoy a day out to Cork golf club in mid September when the final will be played.

Club Outing: Our Club outing has been arranged for Dundrum Golf Club on the 21st August. The price includes a round of golf, dinner and overnight stay. Balance of fees are due by August 10th.

Another Result from the Archives! Winter League: As Covid took hold in early March our Club Winter League very kindly sponsored by Shaws came to a premature end! However the final placings did not change as Castletroy captained by Eithne Ashby emerged the worthy winners. Other team members included Catherine Ruane, Ciara Donnelly, Frances Carroll, Kathleen Broderick and Bridget Blackwell. The runner-up spot was filled by East Cork with Mary Herlihy at the helm.
