Ladies Notes w/e 1st Sep 2019

On Sunday 1st September our much awaited Bernie Twomey Memorial Cup was played in perfect golfing conditions. This is a much sought after prize and Bernie, who was our first Lady Captain, was remembered by the large number of golfing friends and the Twomey family represented by her husband Derry. He thanked the ladies for their support for the competition and how much it meant to him and his family. Bernie’s siblings, Sister Carmel, Sister Anne, Reena and Joan were also in attendance.
The in-form, Marie T. Curran claimed first prize playing off 24 with 37 points. Congratulations Marie on a great win.
The very consistent Mary Lou Carroll playing off 18 came in 2nd with 36 points and Deirdre Ruane (16) claimed the gross prize. The 3rd place was won by Aoife McGovern playing off 25 with 35 points.

Our annual “Play in Pink Day” with all proceeds being contributed to Breast Cancer Research will be held on Sunday 29th September. This annual event has proved to be very popular and successful in the past couple of years with the emphasis on fun and, of course, dressing in pink. I’m sure many of our ladies are trawling the vintage shops to get that perfect “pink” outfit. The West Waterford ladies are brilliant to support Breast Cancer Research and no doubt the pink army will turn out in force again
