Ladies Notes w/e 18th August 2019

Champagne on Ice:  On Thursday last West Waterford hosted a  Ladies Champagne scramble which was sponsored by The Wine Buff, Dungarvan. The lucky winning team were Aisling Fennell (9), Aoife McGovern (27) and Laura Cliffe (36) with 58 points.  I am sure they will put the prize to good use!

Just pipped in second place we had the inform trio of Ger Hickey (32), Mary Herlihy (33) and Joan Nugent (34) also with 58 points. Filling the 3rd spot, we had the lower Handicappers, June Whyte (18), Finola Butler (19) and Joanne Fox (19) with 56 points. Thanks to our Sponsor Michael Sheehan in the Wine Buff.

Ladies Outing to Macroom:  On Friday last the ladies from West Waterford headed to West Cork and Macroom to sample the golfing and culinary delights of the area.  The golf was good but the entertainment was even better.  Many thanks to our Lady Captain Jean O Donovan for organising the outing.  The fabulous prizes on offer were won by Mary Fahey, Joan Ronayne and Mary Curran.  In second we had Jean O Donovan, Ciara Donnelly and Marie Curran.  Third place was filled by Norah Flynn, Joan Nugent and Geraldine Curran.

Upcoming Events:

Cass & Co Golfer of the Year Competition:  On Thursday August 22nd we have second day of the Cass & Co sponsored 18 Hole Stroke GOY competition.

Oliveres Health & Beauty:  On Sunday next August 24th and on Thursday Aug 29th the very popular Oliveres Health and Beauty Salon competition takes place.  This is an 18 Hole Stableford competition. 

Bernie Twomey Memorial Competition: On Sunday September 1st the Bernie Twomey Memorial competition will be played.  Bernie was our First Lady Captain and was an inspirational figure in the founding of our Ladies’ Club in West Waterford.  Please put your name up on the Noticeboard

Last Chance to qualify for the Mna Eile:  Thursday Sept 5th is your last chance to qualify for the Mna Eile Final on Sunday September 15th.

Dalton Jewellers Claret Jug Matchplay:  The draw is up for the Dalton Jewellers Matchplay.  Please consult the Noticeboard.

Are you interested in Playing in the Junior Alliance?  Please put your name up on the noticeboard if you are interested in participating in the Junior Alliance for players with a handicap of 0-28.

Coastal Alliance:  Bridget Blackwell is the new Coastal Alliance co-ordinator.  If you wish to play in this very popular competition please put your name up on the noticeboard.

Midweek Medley:  The midweek medley has been very popular throughout the Summer.  Remember all you have to do is turn up at 11.00 on Wednesday, have a cup of coffee and go out and play a little friendly golf.
