Ladies Notes w/e 15th Dec 2019

Untimely passing of Mary Barron: 2019 will long be remembered as a very sad one for the members of West Waterford with the passing of two young members in a matter of weeks. When news of Mary Barron’s death trickled through there was a feeling of utter disbelief. Mary had served as Lady Captain in 2015 bringing an energy and efficiency to the role. Indeed Mary was following in the footsteps of her late mother Joanne who also served as Lady Captain and who predeceased Mary in February. No visitor or member visited West Waterford without a hearty welcome from Mary. Mary was a true driving force and introduced procedures to the administration of the Club which are still in place today. Mary was so popular and was always in demand to both go out and have a game of golf with or just to have the chat and banter in the Clubhouse. Her presence will be greatly missed. On behalf of our Lady Captain Phil Kelly, I would like to extend our sincere sympathies to Mary’s father Tom and her brothers Pat and Liam, sister in law Martina and nieces Meabh and Sarah.
