Great Turnout for MNÁ Eile:  On Thursday last it was difficult to get a parking spot in West Waterford as the second qualifier was taking place for the Mná Eile competition.  Clare Brady from Tramore filled first place with 40 points closely followed by Christine O Keffee from Dungarvan who also had 40 points.  Other qualifiers for the final on September 18th include Aine Parks, June Whyte, Phil Whyte (Slievenamon GC), Trish Horgan, Frances Carroll, Marian Hilliard, Jean O Donovan, Maeve Morrissey (Dungarvan GC), Paula Spillane (Slievenamon GC), Mary Donnelly and Margaret O Sullivan

May On Going 9 Hole:  Ger Curran has had a field day in the 9 hole on going competitions.  At this stage Ger has won the March, April and May competitions!  Ger playing off a 9 hole handicap of 22 had 42 points.  In second we had Reena Landers playing off a nine hole handicap of 16 with 39 points while Una Mulligan with a nine hole handicap of 14 had 36 points.  Well Done ladies


What’s On this Week!

Thursday next 9th June: there is an 18 Hole stableford competition kindly sponsored by Yardon Ltd, or if you don’t fancy 18 holes ,why not play in the 9 Hole Stableford competition which counts for Handicap purposes. Be sure to use the Yellow 9 Hole card for this competition. Unfortunately you are not allowed enter in both competitions on the same day.


Revive Team play Tramore:  On Saturday afternoon in West Waterford our Revive team play Tramore in their second round of the competition.  Matches gets underway at 1.00pm.  Please come out and support the team.  Good Luck Ladies.


Captain’s Prize to Ladies:  On Sunday next our Men’s Captain Denis Herlihy has very kindly presented a prize to the ladies. The format will be an 18 Hole Stroke competition which will also be a Golfer of the Year qualifier.  The draw for partners will take place on Thursday.  Please make sure that you have your name on the sheet.  On behalf of our Lady Captain Ciara I would like to thank Denis for his generous gesture.


Get Into Golf:  Our Get into Golf players are making outstanding progress over the last number of weeks.  Aaron Crotty is providing lessons each Tuesday.  On Tuesday 21st June Phase 1 ends with a presentation to players in the Club House.  More details later.  Well Done Una Mulligan, Co-ordinator of the programme and many thanks to the lady members who help out every Tuesday evening. 


Junior Academy 2022:  Since it’s foundation in 1992 West Waterford has enjoyed a great reputation for bringing on Junior players.  Seamus Power, PGA winner and Gary Hurley, Alpine Tour player have all started in West Waterford.  The academy is divided into stages. Cadets (Stage 1 and 2) for  boys and girls who are completely new to golf up to Stage 4 for Juniors who can play in Adult competitions. The Cadets commence on Monday 27th June while the Juniors (Stages 3 and 4) begin on Tuesday morning June 21st.   The age range is 7 years to 18 years.
