Joan Nugent Nails It in President’s Prize  On Sunday the fairways were busy in West Waterford as the ladies played in the President’s Prize to the Ladies.  David Condon, one of the most hardworking members in the Club put up a beautiful specially commissioned piece of Criostal na Rinne.  The entry was good and the competition was intense.  On the day Joan Nugent recorded a great win.  Playing off 36 Joan brought in a nett 69 which was a super score given the mixed weather conditions.  Mary Spratt, a former Lady Captain’s Prize winner showed great form bringing in a nett score of 70 playing off 41.  The prestigious Gross Prize went to Deirdre Ruane who plays off 14 and who returned an 85 gross. Geraldine Hickey is back in form, this time bringing in a nett 70 playing off 38 to take third prize.

In the categories Joanne Fox played steady golf to win Cat A (0-23) with a nett 71 playing off 22.  In Cat B (24-29) the in form Una Mulligan took the spoils with a 74nett playing off 27.  The Cat  C section (30-36) was won by Mary Fahy who is playing very well at the moment.  Mary had a nett 70 playing off 31.  The Cat D section (37-54) was won by the every consistent Kathleen Broderick  playing off 37 with a 71 nett.

On behalf of our Lady Captain Ciara Donnelly I would like to thank David for his very generous prize.  It was a beautiful piece which will grace Joan Nugent’s sideboard.

Gary Hurley doing West Waterford Golf Club Proud:  Aglish man and club member Gary Hurley is on a winning streak at the moment. On Saturday Gary finished with an eagle and a birdie to tie second place in the RomaAlps Tour.  This result moves Gary into 5th place in the Alps Tour Order of Merit. Gary has received an invitation to play in the Irish Challenge which is part of the Challenge Tour. This event takes place in the K Club this week so why not take a la amach and go and support Gary!

Una Mulligan will be going to Merrys!  The Merrys Gastro Pub sponsored 18 hole Stableford competition provided plenty of good competition.  Una Mulligan emerged a worthy winner with a handsome score of 41 points playing off 27.  In second place Jean O Donovan played really lovely golf to return a score of 39 Points playing off 29.  In third place we had another former Lady Captain’s prize winner in Suzanne Dalton who played great golf to return a score of 38 points playing off 35.  I have no doubt all these ladies will enjoy their visit to Merrys Gastro Pub in the very near future.

Refurbishment means Fundraising!  Next week work is commencing on refurbishing the entrance hall to the club.  Why not buy a Tile to Improve our Style!  Tiles only cost €5 each.  Please contact Gillian in the office.
