Success for West Waterford Tour Players:  Last week was an exceptional week in the short history of West Waterford Golf Club.  We now have two Touring Professionals!  Playing in Spain, Gary Hurley had to go through a gruelling regime of playing six consecutive matches to earn his DP World Tour card.  Throughout Gary played very consistent golf and, in the end, finished up in 13th place.   Kinsale’s John Murphy also got inside the all-important top 25 finishing in 24th place. Gary, a superb performance

At the weekend Seamus Power was playing in the RSM Classic in Georgia.  At one stage yesterday he led the tournament.  However, the Golf Gods decided that there was to be another winner on the day and Seamus finished up in 5th position.  Another incredible performance from Seamus which gains him valuable Ryder Cup points and he retains the No 1 Spot in the FedEx Cup.

Presentation to Juniors and Cadets.  On Friday night Eoin Prendergast organised a Presentation night for all those young boys and girls who are Members of the Junior Golf Academy.  It was so nice to see them go up and collect their prizes from none other than Gary Hurley who was a surprise Guest for the night.  Well done to all involved.  These are special nights in the Club’s history.

Nora Flynn Scoots clear in Mary Lou Carroll competition!  The 13-hole competition kindly sponsored by Mary Lou Carroll attracted a good entry.  The very inclement weather conditions made scoring very difficult.  Nora Flynn emerged a worthy winner with 22 points playing off 32. In second place we had Ger Curran who relishes tough conditions with 21 points playing off 35.  Our Lady Captain Ciara Donnelly, who has had a wonderful year both on and off the golf course finished in third playing off 26 with 19 points.

Get Into Golf:  On Sunday we had a lovely turnout for the Get Into Golf practice.  Again, conditions were tough but it was lovely to see both the Beginners and seasoned golfers out.  The fun in the Clubhouse also contributed to a very pleasant afternoon!

Christmas Hamper Competition:   A 13 hole Christmas Hamper competition sponsored by Aerhaus  is currently running until  Saturday December 3rd.  The presentation of prizes will take place on Saturday December 3rd.  So get out there and play.  There will be more than interesting prizes!

Christmas Party:  Remember December 3rd is Party Time in West Waterford.  Please put your name on the list for our Christmas Party which will be hosted by our brand new Lady Captain Nora Flynn.  Delicious Christmas fare, (I would think Mince Pies will be involved!) will be served.  The presentation of outstanding prizes will also take place.   Please add to your busy Christmas Calendar!
