Bernie Twomey Memorial Competition Great Success
On Sunday 4th September our much-awaited Bernie Twomey Memorial Cup was played in tough golfing conditions. This is a much sought-after prize and Bernie, who was our first Lady Captain, was remembered by the large number of golfing friends and the Twomey family represented by her son Dermot and grandson, Seamus. The in-form, Patricia O’Shea claimed first prize playing off 37 with 40 points. Congratulations Patricia on a great win. The very steady golfer, Mary Donnelly playing off 23 came in 2nd with 39 points and Deirdre Ruane (13) claimed the gross prize. 3rd place was won by Bridget Blackwell playing off 29 with 37 points.
CAT A (0-23) was won by Mary Lou Carroll playing off 19 with 34 pts with Una Mulligan (25) winning the CAT B with 36 points. Cat C was won by Marion Hilliard (31) with a score of 34 points and Cat D was won by Mary Spratt (39) with a score of 35 pts. Congratulations to all the prize winners.
Mary Spratt is Burning it Up! The Jean O Donovan sponsored August Nine Hole competition produced some record scores. Leading the charge was Mary Spratt, who is playing fabulous golf at the moment. Mary had a score of 47 points with a handicap of 21 and 20. Another in form player was in second. Joan Nugent with a handicap of 18 and 17 had 45 points, while Margaret O Sullivan, a contender for the Golfer of the Year accolade brought in a very nice 44 points off a handicap of 12.

Get Into Golf Players showing Great Form:
Recently we organised a Five Hole ongoing competition confined to the Get into Golf Ladies. The two best cards were counting. The entry was super and the results were even more spectacular! The winner of the inaugural competition was Ann Hogan with 66 shots. Ann has been hitting the ball really well. In second we had the promising Leah Ronayne with 73 shots while in third we had Doireann Cotter with 74 points, another name for the future! Well done ladies

What Happening This Week!
Des Cleary Sponsored 18 Hole Stableford or 9 Hole Stableford: On Thursday next Sept 8th there is an 18 hole stableford or 9 hole stableford competition. A chance tor a last minute practice before heading to the delights of Mount Wolsey!

“La Amach” This week is a little different for the West Waterford ladies as we have a “La Amach” on Friday next in Mount Wolsey Golf Club in Tullow. Our Lady Captain Ciara is moving her troops to the Mount Wolsey Golf Club in Tullow. There is a big crew travelling and I have no doubt that the fun on the golf course will be surpassed by the fun in the Clubhouse. Enjoy
