West Waterford Buzzing!
The recent lovely spell of weather really brought the golfers out. Throughout last week the car park was full and the course is pristine at the moment. Well done Morrie Ferncombe and the team who maintain the course. Special mention must also be given to the army of volunteers whose contribution is invaluable to the maintenance of the areas surrounding the course.
Bealtaine Classic 29 April to 7 May:
The Bealtaine Champagne Scramble sponsored by Fenor Pig Farms is underway. Entries are good and already there are predictions of what the winning score will be!.
If you want to get in on the act, phone 058 43216 to enter your team. You are guaranteed to enjoy the West Waterford experience. €90 per team of 3, re-entry €15 per person.
Revive Team sets the Ball Rolling:
On Sunday afternoon our Revive Team play our neighbours Dungarvan in the first round of the All Ireland Revive Team competition. Last year our Revive team reached the All Ireland semi-finals in Strandhill, Sligo having won a Munster pennant on the way. Sunday’s assignment will be a tough one. The matches get underway at 2.30 in Dungarvan and your support is welcome. Best of Luck everyone
Ger Curran burns it up in the May 9 Hole:
Ger is certainly enjoying a Purple Patch at the moment! In the April on-going nine hole competition sponsored by Mary Herlihy, Ger had 49 points playing off 22. Another regular winner, Bridget Blackwell, playing off 16 had 41 points, to finish second, while Una Mulligan continues a fine run of form having 40 points playing off 15 to take third prize
Club Competition:
On Sunday next an 18 hole Stableford competition kindly sponsored by Forde’s Daybreak Supermarket will take place. Throughout May there will be an on-going 9 hole competition as well as a 9 hole qualifying competition
Get into Golf: We look forward to welcoming back our Get Into Golf ladies on Tuesday evening May 3rd. This programme will continue every Tuesday for the foreseeable future. If the first night is anything to go by it will be great fun. Aaron Crotty will be giving the formal instructions while a large band of volunteers will be on hand to assist.
Open Singles in West Waterford:
The Open Singles continues next Wednesday May 11th. This completion is open to Ladies and Gents and will continue on a weekly basis.
On behalf of our Lady Captain I would like to extend our sympathy to Ann Rochford on the recent death of her brother Patrick O Donoghue. May he Rest in Peace.
