Lions Club Hamper Appeal
Proceeds from next weeks 9 hole competition Dec 14th – 18th will be donated to the Lions Club Christmas Hamper appeal . Donations are also most welcome for this deserving cause.
Our course reopened on Tuesday Dec 1st following the lockdown. For the rest of the week we had a steady flow of members suitably attired in their winter woollies and face masks. Nice to see everyone observing the Covid-19 guidelines and using the wide spaces at West Waterford GC to observe social distancing. Temperatures may have dropped but it didn’t seem to deter anybody from making a welcome comeback to their favourite outdoor pastime.
Up The Deise
All in West Waterford golf club wish Liam and the team the very best of luck in The All Ireland final on Sunday next. Unfortunately we cant be there but we will be watching and cheering. Bring Back Liam

Behind the Scenes
Our incoming captain Edward is making progress in forming his new team and is recruiting some new additions to his committee. The handicap committee have been busy over the past few weeks dealing with the changeover to WHS. We have dealt with a number of queries from members and with the exception of a few outstanding issues, are making satisfactory progress. Any members requiring assistance can contact the office on 05843216 or Pat Power on 0876611276. If we don’t have the answers we can direct your query to the relevant authorities
Winter Rules Golf
This means that competitions will be non qualifying for handicap purposes. Competitions will be played over a shorter course and may be 9, 13, or 16 holes. Placing will be allowed on fairways and in the rough. A domestic handicap system will be in effect for competitions during the winter rules period. This will not affect your official WHS handicap. Check the noticeboard for extra local rules.

Prize Vouchers Supporting Local Business
Most of our competition prizes at West Waterford are in the form of our unique club vouchers. There are still a large number of vouchers out there that have not been redeemed. Why not conduct a search of your car, your golf bag or your bedside locker and you might find yourself an early Christmas present. Our vouchers can be redeemed at any of our nine sponsors businesses. They can also be used as part payment of your annual subscription. At West Waterford we like to support local business so whether or not you find that missing voucher keep your town in business by keeping your business in town.
