Seamus Power tied 12th at Butterfield Bermuda Championship
Another good weekend for Seamus Power who finished in a share of 12th in the Bermuda Championship. Seamus shot a final round of 67 to move to ten under par. Birdies on holes 2 and 7 saw the West Waterford man cruise to the turn in 34. A brace of birdies after the turn followed by a birdie on the par 3 13th saw him inside the top 10. Bogeys on 14 followed by a three put bogey on 16 halted his momentum, but a closing birdie on 18 saw him round off a fine effort in blustery conditions. Seamus will be hoping to extend his good run of form when he tees it up at the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba 0n 4th to 7th November. This event carries a prize fund of $7.2 million.

Weather the Winner at the Weekend
Twenty four hours of incessant rain the equivalent of a month’s rainfall played havoc with our programme of events last week. Whereas we did get some golf played competitions were reduced to 9 and 13 holes to facilitate the maximum number of participants. With the clocks gone back remember to book your afternoon times a little bit earlier. We apologise for the inconvenience and everything possible is being done to maintain a normal schedule. Hopefully conditions will improve in the coming days. In the meantime members are advised to check the website and BRS booking system for daily updates on course conditions.

Inactive Season Winter rules Golf
The mens committee at West Waterford have agreed to introduce winter rules with effect from Monday October 18th. This means that scores in club competitions at West Waterford are not eligible for handicap purposes until further notice. We are also requesting members not to return scores on the Golf Ireland app for casual golf played in the club during the inactive season. Members playing at an away course may qualify for handicap adjustment based on the current rules on the particular course. Members can check their handicap index from the list on our notice board and calculate their playing handicap (95% of course handicap). A list of gents handicap indices is available at the sign-in desk. Of course you can also use the Golf Ireland App to check your handicap. Players are reminded to check their handicap index regularly for any changes, bearing in mind that your handicap is your responsibility. We would appreciate your cooperation in complying with the current rules of play and should you have any queries just mark your card as usual and please write (check my Index) on your card.
Winter rules mean that you can mark, lift, clean and place your ball on the fairway and in the rough. Bunkers are in play unless otherwise specified.

Covid 19
Despite the best efforts of the majority of the population Covid numbers are still rising. Golf clubs have been to the fore in complying with covid-19 regulations. We would ask all our members to keep up the effort. Wash and sanitize your hands, wear a mask when entering the building and maintain social distancing at all times. If you have cold or flu symptoms please stay away and get the matter checked. Remember it’s in our hands to protect ourselves and others. Thank you for your continued cooperation.
