Late Michael Walsh Captain 2004
It was with deep regret and sadness we learned last week of the passing of our esteemed past Captain Michael Walsh. A true sportsman, Michael enjoyed his participation in a variety of sports. He enjoyed meeting people and helping out when needed. May he now enjoy eternal peace in heaven. We extend our sincere sympathy to Lena and the entire family. May Michael Rest in Peace.

Comeragh Oil Winter League
Following a record turnout over the past week Round 2 of the Winter League has now been completed. Round 3 gets underway on Monday Jan 24 and runs for the full week up to Sunday Jan 30. Updated scores and leaderboard will be circulated to team managers on Monday. Thanks to everyone who played over the past two weeks and to the team managers who got their teams out in force. The Stallions and the Sharks lead the table in a tie for top spot and look likely to make the qualifiers. The big battle will be for 3rd to 6th places and a place in the matchplay stages. Best of luck to all in Round 3. A special word of thanks to Eoin and Jimmy who continue to do trojan work in ensuring that entry fees, cards, and score updates are taken care of each week. It’s the work behind the scenes that continues to make the Comeragh Oil Winter League the highlight of our Winter programme at West Waterford.
Seamus Power finishes tied 14th at American Express in La Quinta CA.
Seamus extended his sensational run of form when he finished tied for 14th place in the American Express last weekend. His final round on Sunday brought to an end ten successive rounds in the 60’s in what has been a great start to the year for the West Waterford man. Seamus has registered seven top-20 finishes in his last 9 PGA starts. He is now playing for vital world ranking points to secure a Major championship debut at Augusta National in April. His top 14 finish at the weekend moves him into 47th place on the wgr list. He has also consolidated his position in 12th place on the FedEx Cup rankings. Seamus adds another €119,700 to his winnings for the current season. Seamus is taking a well earned break from competition this week and has plenty to look forward to in the coming weeks. We too are looking forward to many more exciting weekends.
We would ask all members and visitors to continue to wear a mask and wash and sanitize their hands on entering the clubhouse. The restrictions may have been lifted but the safety of yourselves and others is now your personal responsibility. Thank you for your ongoing cooperation.
