Gents Notes w/e Sunday 12th December 2021

Late Noel Murray
On Saturday last the news of the passing of our dear friend and former member Noel Murray created an air of sadness among his fellow members in West Waterford GC. For health reasons Noel was unable to play the game he loved for the past two years. He stayed in touch with happenings in the club through contact with his lifelong friends Fintan and Pat. A true clubman, Noel was actively involved in all club activities. He loved the Tuesday high handicap and represented the club with pride in the Belvedere Trophy on numerous occasions. When it came to club outings at home or abroad his name was always on top of the list. Noel enjoyed his years in West Waterford and we enjoyed sharing them with him. Farewell dear friend and thank you for the memories. We express our deepest sympathies to Eilís, Orla, Una and the extended family. May Noel Rest in Peace

Storm Barra
Just when we were starting to come to terms with the WHS and Covid, along comes Barra to play havoc with our winter golf programme. Fortunately the weather prospects for the coming week look somewhat more settled. With 12 days and counting until Christmas it would be nice to be able to play a few holes just to keep in touch and get ready for the New Year. With the commencement of the Winter league our mens competition will run for the full week so there is something to play for each day. After all what else would you be doing this time of year.

Winter Rules Golf
As some rules may vary depending on weather and course conditions members are asked to check the notices on the board and also on the first tee. You should also check your inbox for BRS notifications with the latest details on course conditions.

Covid 19
It has come to our attention that some people are entering the clubhouse without wearing a mask. Please be advised that masks are mandatory if you are entering the building. Under no circumstances should anybody go onto the first tee without confirming their arrival either by checking in at the office or signing the attendance book. We have been doing a good job so far in complying with HSE guidelines and we would urge all members and visitors to keep up the effort.
