Comeragh Oil Winter League

Thanks to an improvement in weather conditions we made good progress in Round 4 of the Comeragh Oil sponsored Winter League in the past week. It would be great to complete round 4 this week so we could move on to the match-play stage. We are appealing to all teams to make an extra effort this week. As usual those not playing in the league are most welcome to participate in the weekly club competition

West Waterford’s Touring Professionals.

It’s been a successful weekend for both of our touring professionals, Gary Hurley finished tied 9th in the Ein Bay Open in Egypt, while Seamus Power finished 35th in the Puero Rico Open. A promising start to 2020 for both lads and we look forward to continued success for Gary and Seamus as the year progresses.

South East League

On Sunday next March 1st we make the short trip to Dungarvan GC where we take on East Cork in our first match in defence of the trophy which we won last year. Tee off is 11.30 am. The league is an opportunity to try out different Bruen and Purcell pairings with a view to form a panel for the upcoming GUI inter club competitions.

Care of the Greens

Unfortunately a number of people are not repairing pitch marks on the greens. A lot of time and effort has gone into getting our greens to the high standard our members and visitors have come to expect at West Waterford. So please repair your pitch marks and even if you can’t find your own please fix another one. Your cooperation would be greatly appreciated.

World Handicap System

The new World Handicap System will be implemented on November 2nd 2020. Local seminars are being arranged to inform handicap committees on the structure of the new system. Members will be kept informed as we receive ongoing updates.
