Winter Rules
As and from Monday 19th October Winter Rules golf will be in play at West Waterford
This means you can lift, clean and place within 6 inches on fairways and in the rough. Please check the notice board for any additional local rules which may be in force. Notices regarding competitions and local rules will also be posted on the outdoor notice board beside the entrance doorway.

Sanding of Fairways
Our annual sanding program is progressing well and continues through this week. This is essential to the ongoing drainage of the fairways during the winter months. The project will be carried out over a number of weeks and we apologise to our members and visitors for any inconvenience. We would also like to thank you for your continued support of our fundraising events without which we could not carry out this essential work.

World Handicapping System
Golf Ireland, the GUI and ILGU have confirmed that the World Handicap System will come into effect in Ireland from 2nd November, replacing the current Unified Handicapping System (CONGU).
The new World Handicap System will be averaged using the best 8 of the last 20 scores on your record. Further information will become available during the coming weeks and members should log on to Golfnet to access this information. With the introduction of WHS, HandicapMaster Ltd will be required by licence to pay for each clubs’ access to the WHS Platform when they use HandicapMaster in conjunction with the WHS handicapping service. All going well, the new service will be operational in time for the changeover on November 2nd.
Our Course Rating and Slope Rating along with Course Handicap Tables are posted on the men’s notice board.

As our weekly notes are penned on Sunday evening we are not currently aware of the exact changes that may take effect following the upgrade to a new level. We hope to inform our members of any changes as soon as we know them. In the meantime we ask you all to maintain the current level of compliance.
We would like thank all our members and visitors for their continued cooperation in complying with Covid-19 protocol. Members are reminded that all tee times must be booked in advanced and that under no circumstances should any member go out on the course without booking and/or notifying the office. Failure to comply may lead to suspension from the club. You must comply with social distancing regulations at all times. Wearing a cloth face covering in public may reduce the spread of COVID-19 in the community. It may help to reduce the spread of respiratory droplets from people infected with COVID-19. Cloth face coverings may help to stop people who are not aware they have the virus from spreading it. By law, face coverings must be worn in all shops, including retail shops in golf clubs.
Full details of the measures are available at
