Care of the Greens

Unfortunately a number of people are not repairing pitch marks on the greens. A lot of time and effort has gone into getting our greens to the high standard our members and visitors have come to expect at West Waterford. So please repair your pitch marks and even if you can’t find your own please fix another one. Your cooperation would be greatly appreciated.

Comeragh Oil Winter League – Rond 3 Completed.

Thanks to Ciara and Dennis, round 4 of the Comeragh Oil winter league made very little progress during the past two weeks. Consequently it has been decided to extend round 4 for at least one more week and possibly more depending on the weather. With March fast approaching this will be the final qualifying round and the knockout matchplay stage will follow on the completion of round 4. The top 8 teams will qualify for the playoffs with 1vs8, 2vs7, 3vs6 and 4vs5. Matches are paired in order of handicap. The semi finals will be decided by an open draw. On completion of the qualifying rounds the weekly 13 hole competition will continue until further notice. The good news is that 3 rounds have been completed and all teams are still in contention for the qualifying stages. Following Round 3, teams L and C traded places at the top of the table with just a single point separating them. Teams K and E held their positions in 3rd and 4th spot. Team I were the big movers in round 3 moving into 8th place at the expense of team G. After three qualifying rounds the cut comes in at 324 with the bottom four teams still in with a shout. Round 4 continues on Monday 16th February and will run for at least two more weeks. It has been decided to stick with the 13 hole format to give players the opportunity to play in the afternoon. The weekly competition is open to non league members. We are delighted with the support for our league to date and hope you will keep up the effort.

World Handicap System

The new World Handicap System will be implemented on November 2nd 2020. Local seminars are being arranged to inform handicap committees on the structure of the new system. Members will be kept informed as we receive ongoing updates.
