Comeragh Oil League Final – Glenbeg are Champions
After the first three matches it looked as though Kinsalebeg had one hand on the Cole Memorial Trophy. Vinny Coonan had a 4 and 3 victory over Pat Higgins, while Dave Walsh defeated Dermot Murphy on the same scoreline. It was a much closer affair between Brian Foley and Mike Drohan with Brian claiming victory on the 18th 1up. It was now 3-1 to Kinsalebeg and Glenbeg needed a victory. Pat Murray started the comeback with a 6 and 5 win over Cormac Cullinan but Ken Fenton defeated Jimmy Murphy 1 up to increase Kinsalebeg’s lead to 4-1. With three matches remaining Glenbeg had to win all three to tie the contest. John Byrne had a 6 and 4 win over Ray Rochford, Conal O Ceallaigh won 4 and 3 over Maurice Hallahan , while the in – form Tom Shanahan played a blinder to record a 5 and 3 win over Eddie Glavin. It was now 4 all and with Glenbeg having he higher cumulative winning margin they were declared Comeragh Oil League winners for 2020. A fitting finish to a long but very successful Winter league. Thank you to our loyal sponsor Comeragh Oil and to everyone who participated in the league throughout. A date for the presentation will be announced shortly.
