Pat Higgins in Quest for All-Ireland Title
On behalf of everyone at the club I would like to extend our very best wishes to Pat Higgins who will represent West Waterford in the All-Ireland final of the GUI Gold medal final at the K-Club on Tuesday 8th October. Having qualified in the (10-17) Category from the qualifying round at West Waterford Pat went on to progress from the Regional Final at Cahir Park as the best overall qualifier for the All-Ireland. You can follow Pat’s progress at . Best of luck Pat.

Club Fourball Matchplay Final
Brian Nolan and Jim Quinn are the champions following a dramatic win on the 18th hole on Friday afternoon. This was always going to be a close contest between two evenly matched pairings. With the sides all square through 8 holes Jim Quinn rattled in a raker of a putt to birdie the 9th for a 0ne hole lead at the turn. The match was all square after 15 and remained so through 16 and 17. With Pat Higgins setting up a 3 foot birdie putt on 18 Brian Nolan chipped in for eagle from just off the green. A fitting finish to a nailbiting contest. Well done to both pairs and thank you to everyone who played in the club fourball. With the club singles and club mixed finals decided on the 19th it’s been quite a year for our club matchplay competitions.

Belvedere Trophy County Final
Despite our last minute request for a postponement the final went ahead as scheduled in atrocious weather conditions at Faithlegg GC on Saturday 5th October. Both teams did their best to make this a contest and through 9 holes the result was still in the balance. The result remained in the balance through the back 9 but Waterford won the first match on the 18th and followed this with wins in matches 2 and 3 on the 17th. Our pair had a win on the 16th with the last match being called in for a half. The overall result Waterford 3.5, West Waterford 1.5. Our team was Diarmuid Horgan and Dave Walsh, Pa McCarthy and Liam Troy, Percy Walsh and Declan Walsh, Justin Spratt and Michael Lawlor, Fintan Gee and John Murphy. Team manager Edward Hickey. Thank you and well done to all. Congratulations to Waterford on their victory. Regarding the decision to proceed with the fixture on the day, suffice it to say that both teams deserved better.

End of Year Scramble and Presentation of Prizes
Our annual end of year get together and scramble is fixed for Sunday 20th October. Following a 9 hole scramble at 2.30pm there will be a presentation of all matchplay prizes in the clubhouse.
