Open Week Draws to a Close

A most successful Open Week ended as it began on Sunday 28th July in brilliant sunshine.  The varied program of competitions was widely welcomed by members and the many visitors from far and wide.  We would like to express our sincere thanks to all our sponsors and to assure them of our continued support through our club voucher system.  Thanks also to everyone who played.  We hope you enjoyed the experience and look forward to seeing many of you back in West Waterford in the future.

Presentation of Prizes in association with Coolcormack Residents Weekend.

Once again Coolcormack Residents Association have come up with a very generous sponsorship for the August Bank Holiday weekend. We thank them most sincerely.

Presentation of outstanding prizes for Open week will be held in conjunction with the Coolcormack Residents weekend on Sunday 4th August.  A very special evening is planned with music from 8pm and presentation at 9pm.  Complimentary finger food to follow with music, song and dance.  Don’t miss an unforgettable evening.

Fred Perry Trophy

Our team bowed out in the area final at Templemore on Monday July 22nd.  The home team won on a 3.5 to 1.5 scoreline.  So ends a very creditable performance from Des Cleary and his panel who played some great golf throughout the opening rounds.  Our thanks to Des and the boys for their efforts in representing our club with distinction.

Belvedere Trophy

Edward Hickey’s team will travel to Faithlegg for the first leg of the county semi final.  Past experience tells us that this is going to be a tough battle but Edward has been through many battles in his time and will be hoping to register a couple of wins prior to the home leg at West Waterford.  Panel members will be notified regarding dates and practice rounds.

Intermediate and Minor Scratch Cups at West Waterford.

Both events will take place on the weekend of August 9th, 10th and 11th.  Intermediate is for handicaps 11 – 18, and Minor is 18+.  The format is Stroke.  Book online at  or ring 058 43216.

President’s Prize Mr Pat Murphy 16th and 17th August.

Time sheets are posted on the notice board at present.  This will be a single round event played over two days with the best score claiming the prestigious prize.  All at West Waterford are aware of the continuous untiring work that Pat puts into the course.  Please show your appreciation by supporting the upcoming president’s prize.
