GUI All-Ireland Gold Medals Regional Final.
Our very best wishes go with Mike Drohan, Pat Higgins, and Billy McCarthy who make the trip to Cahir Park to represent West Waterford in the regional final on Wednesday 28th August. All three qualified in their respective categories in our club competition on Sunday 23rd June. The top 3 players in each category will qualify for the All-Ireland final which will be held on Tuesday 8th October on the Ryder Cup Course at the K Club. Best of luck lads.
Belvedere Trophy
Our team recorded a 3.5 to 1.5 victory over Faithlegg in the away leg of the County semi final on Monday 19th August. Four of the five matches were decided on the 18th so there is no question of complacency as we welcome Faithlegg to West Waterford for the deciding leg on Wednesday August 28th. We have already lost two of our panel due to a drop in handicap but the replacements acquitted themselves admirably in Faithlegg and manager Edward Hickey will have to think hard before announcing his team for the second leg. Tee off on Wednesday is at 3pm and we would welcome supporters as we attempt to reach the Co Final.
Club Singles Matchplay
Brian Hilliard will play Des Cleary in the first semi final. Diarmuid Horgan awaits the winner of Tom Higgins vs Percy Walsh to complete the other semi final.
Club Fourball
There is still one match outstanding to complete the semi final line up. This match must be completed by Sunday 1st September.
Club Mixed Foursomes sponsored by Tom Currans Topline
In order to facilitate the exceptionally large entry it has been agreed to play this competition from Sunday 26th August to Saturday 14th September. Each pair can arrange to play with another pair of their choice anytime within the above dates. The two pairs with the best cards will play each other in the final. Full details are posted in the clubhouse.
