President’s Prize Postponed
Following the upgrading of Covid regulations to Level 3 it was decided on the recommendation of our president Mr Pat Murphy to postpone the Presidents prize which was scheduled for Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October. The decision was taken in the interests of our members safety in light of the current upsurge in covid-19 cases. We would hope to hold this major event at a later date when circumstances are more favourable. We would like to thank Pat Murphy for postponing his prize and also thank our members for their understanding and cooperation.

Sanding of Fairways
Our annual sanding program is currently underway at West Waterford. This is essential to the ongoing drainage of the fairways during the winter months. The project will be carried out over a number of weeks and we apologise to our members and visitors for any inconvenience. We would also like to thank you for your continued support of our fundraising events without which we could not carry out
this essential work.

World Handicapping System
Golf Ireland, the GUI and ILGU have confirmed that the World Handicap System will come into effect in Ireland from 2nd November, replacing the current Unified Handicapping System (CONGU).
The new World Handicap System will be averaged using the best 8 of the last 20 scores on your record. Further information will become available during the coming weeks and members should log on to Golfnet to access this information.
Our Course Rating and Slope Rating along with Course Handicap Tables are posted on the men’s notice board.

Covid-19
We would like thank all our members and visitors for their continued cooperation in complying with Covid-19 protocol. Members are reminded that all tee times must be booked in advanced and that under no circumstances should any member go out on the course without booking and/or notifying the office. Failure to comply may lead to suspension from the club. You must comply with social distancing regulations at all times. Wearing a cloth face covering in public may reduce the spread of COVID-19 in the community. It may help to reduce the spread of respiratory droplets from people infected with COVID-19. Cloth face coverings may help to stop people who are not aware they have the virus from spreading it. By law, face coverings must be worn in all shops, including retail shops in golf clubs.
Full details of the measures are available at www.gov.ie

Greenfees Welcome at West Waterford
We are now open for greenfees 7 days per week. Enjoy 9 or 18 holes in the tranquil surroundings of the Brickey Valley. We can guarantee that once you pay a visit to West Waterford you will be made welcome and will want to return. Book online or ring 058 43216 to reserve your tee time.

Temporary Local Rule
Owing to the variable weather conditions we are currently permitting Placing on Fairways only until further notice. A lot of time and effort goes into keeping fairways cut and placing is in to keep them in the best condition. You can help by replacing divots. Keep an eye on the notice board as local rules will change depending on weather conditions.

Relief for Embedded Ball
“A ball embedded in its own pitch-mark in the ground through the green may be lifted, cleaned and dropped, without penalty, as near as possible to the spot where it lay but not nearer the hole.”

Reciprocal Arrangements with Dungarvan and Gold Coast Golf Clubs
Members are reminded of the ongoing arrangement whereby from Monday to Friday, members of West Waterford can play Gold Coast or Dungarvan for a reduced fee of €15. This does not apply for competitions or at weekends.
