End of Year Presentations and Sponsors Evening in West Waterford

On Sunday evening we had a full house for our end of year presentations and sponsor appreciation event.  Along with representatives from many of our generous sponsors, our captain Denis Herlihy vice captain Michael Cass and lady captain Ciara Donnelly were in attendance.  Most of the prize winners made the extra effort to be present to show their appreciation for our sponsors.

Captain Denis welcomed everybody and on behalf of the club thanked all our sponsors for their continued support in sponsoring the various competitions throughout the year.  Without their support throughout the years, we simply would not be able to survive as a club and it is vital that we return the favour by supporting our sponsors whenever possible by keeping our business local.

During the presentations delicious finger food was provided by Ken and his staff and was greatly appreciated by all present.  As usual our regular photographer Sean Byrne was present to capture the moments which you will see over the coming weeks in the Dungarvan Leader and Observer.

Finally we would again like to thank everybody who attended and who helped in extending the West Waterford Welcome to our guests and sponsors.

Mixed Fortunes for Seamus Power at the CJ Cup in South Carolina

An opening 67 on day one followed by a 69 on Friday saw Seamus at 6-under par at the halfway stage and within 5 shots of the leaders.

“I’m putting well and I really like the greens here, so you know you’ve got a chance,” he said. “Hopefully nobody gets too far away or anything like that, but I feel very comfortable on the course, so hopefully some more good stuff tomorrow.”

However Seamus struggled with his approach play on Saturday and Sunday and finished with back to back 74’s to finish tied 49th.  Despite dropping 2 places in the world golf rankings he still remains inside the top-50 at no.48.  The West Waterford man will be hoping to improve on his consistency this coming weekend when he tees it up at the Butterfield Championship Oct 27-30th.
