Seasons Greetings

On behalf of our captain Michael Cass we would like to extend Seasons Greetings to all our members, sponsors, supporters and the media.  Thank you all for your support in 2022.  Please look after yourselves and one another during the cold weather, and we look forward to seeing you all in 2023.

Another great result for Gary Hurley on DP World Tour

Two competitions, two cuts made, and a tied 32 finish at the Alfred Dunhill Championship in Malelane, South Africa is quite an achievement for Gary Hurley as he begins a new and exciting phase in his career on the DP World Tour.  Playing in a top-class field he finished tied for 32nd on 6-under par with the great Ernie Els. Following a one over par 73 on day one Gary recovered with a four-under 68 on day two to make the cut on -3 for a share of 39th place.  Once again the Aglish man showed his powers of recovery for the umpteenth time in 2022 when he followed a six on the par 4 tenth, with a hat-trick of birdies on 13,14 and 15 to breeze into the weekend.  A steady level par round on Saturday and a closing round of 70 on Sunday saw Gary finish the week on 6-under and another notable performance.  No rest for Gary as he moves on to Mauritius for the AfrAsia Bank Open on December 15-18th.  Keep up the good work Gary and thank you for warming all our hearts on the coldest week of the year.

Comeragh Oil Winter League

Due to the cold snap, we had a very quiet week for the start of Round 2.  Very few Leopards and Lions to be seen on the fairways in West Waterford.  The forecasters say the sub-zero temperatures will be with us for a few more days but fingers crossed we are hoping to be back in full swing for the weekend.  We will have to adjust our timetable slightly, but all participants can be assured that we will allocate sufficient time for all teams to get their four scores in for round two.  Round two is now underway and now, is envisaged to continue until Christmas eve.

Following the first two rounds of singles stableford there will be a matchplay round over the holiday period. Team members must have played at least once and paid the initial entry fee to be eligible for the matchplay round.  All teams will participate in the matchplay, and bonus points will be awarded to all who participate. On completion of the matchplay round we will revert to the singles competition.

Full details of teams plus Rules and Format are available on the clubhouse notice board and have also been circulated to all on the WhatsApp list. Thank you to all who have played so far and again we ask all team members to make the effort to get at least one score in for their respective teams in round two. Members can play any day during the week and re-entry is permitted.  Remember to book you teetime in advance on the BRS booking system.
