Summer Rules
Yes, Summer has arrived on May 1st and the course is looking splendid following all the voluntary work during the past few weeks. Thank you to everyone who helped out. Please continue to rake the bunkers and repair pitch marks on the greens.
 
Bealtaine Classic
Following a great start at the weekend our fund raising classic continues all this week including Saturday 7th May. Format: Champagne Scramble, 2 scores counting on every hole. Handicap Limit: Men 28, Ladies 36. Teams of 3 can be ladies, gents or mixed. Entry €90 per team. Re-entry €15 per person. For bookings please ring 058 43216. You can also book online. Presentation of prizes on Saturday evening May 7th.
 
Comeragh Oil Winter League Final. Stallions vs Wolves.
The Grand final takes place on Sunday next May 8th with Noel Conway’s Stallions taking on Jimmy Murphy’s Wolves in the decider. The action gets underway at 2pm with the lowest handicap pairings leading off. The final will be played over 18 holes off the white markers and consists of 6 matches . All matches must be played to a finish on the day. In the event of a 3 all tie the team with the largest combined winning margin will be declared the winner. Should the teams still be level it will then go down to individual winning margins as required until we have a winner.
Presentation of prizes in the clubhouse following the last match 6.30 pm approx. Best of luck to both teams. Thank you to our sponsor Comeragh Oil.
 
Presentation of Prizes Sunday May 8th
On Sunday evening next we have a presentation of all outstanding prizes for the month of April. All prizewinners will be notified during the week and we would earnestly request all to attend the presentation in recognition of our generous sponsors. Winter League prizes will also be presented on the evening.
 
Inter Club Competitions
Our Barton Shield team put up a good show in Tramore on Saturday but had to give way to a stronger home team in the end. Thank you to Mark Shanahan, David Dowling, Philip Spratt and Sean Spratt who represented the club.
On Thursday next May 5th Edward Hickey takes his Fred Perry team to Dungarvan to take on the home side. Best of Luck to Edward and the team.
 
Seamus Power
Seamus is back in action this week on the PGA Tour . The Wells Fargo Championship takes place at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm Potomac Md. May 5-8th. With a prizefund of $9,000,000. Best of Luck to Seamus.
Bar and Restaurant now Open
 
The Garden Kitchen Cafe at West Waterford opened its doors for business on Thursday April 14th. The reaction from members and visitors has been most positive and the work put in by Ken and Jean is already paying dividends.
Opening Times: Breakfast 9.30 – 12pm. Lunch 12.30 – 4pm. Restaurant closes at 5pm. Food can be pre booked if required after 5pm.
 
Condolences
We offer our condolences to the O Connor family on their recent bereavement. Vincent was a former member of West Waterford GC. May he Rest in Peace.
