Bon Voyage Seamus

Seamus Power was forced to delay his return to North Carolina due to hurricane Florence.  All going well he will make his return trip this week. 

There’s been quite a buzz at the club during the past week and as always Seamus has made time to meet and greet his host of friends around the county and beyond.

He will be back in action within the next few weeks with a full PGA Tour card.  Safe journey Seamus and every best wish for another successful season in 2019.

Bob Calls it a Day

We would like to extend our best wishes to Bob O Brien  who has decided to retire from his multi faceted position as secretary manager at the Gold Coast golf club. 

It has been both a privilege and a pleasure to work with Bob down through the years and I am sure we will regularly call on his expertise in the future. 

Enjoy your retirement Bob and thank you for your magnificent contribution to golf, not only in the Gold Coast but to all the clubs in the Dungarvan Golf Triangle.

Seamus Power visits West Waterford

Having successfully completed his second season on the USPGA Tour Seamus Power is currently enjoying a well earned break on home territory.  As usual he paid a visit to West Waterford GC to meet a host of friends and supporters.

Many of our junior golfers were present to shake hands with the PGA star and maybe pick up a few tips as well.  As he still awaits the elusive win on the PGA Tour,Seamus is well satisfied with his progress during the season.  The bonus of gaining a full tour card for the 2019 season gives him

ILGU Complimentary Golf Day

To celebrate the 125 year anniversary of the ILGU, a complimentary golf day (3 lady team event 1 score on each hole) will take place in Killarney GC on Oct 11th 2018. 
We are holding a competition to send a team of 3 ladies.
  Please put your teams of 3 on sheet in locker room. 
This competition will have to be played by 23
rd September to allow for the team to be put forward.

Seamus Power to visit West Waterford on Saturday 8th September

USPGA Player Seamus Power will visit the club on Saturday 8th September.  He will be available to meet members and visitors from 6p.m.

There will be an interview with Seamus at 8pm in the clubhouse and this will be followed by a question and answer session.

All are welcome to come along on the evening and you are advised to arrive early.

Belvedere Trophy

Our Belvedere team booked their place in the County Final when they won the 2 matches required against Williamstown at their home venue on Thursday 30th September.

Our opponents in the final will be Waterford GC and the final will be played at Faithlegg.  The date has yet to be announced.

Our team was Terry O Callaghan and Tony Ruane, Fintan Gee and Michael Lawlor, Ollie Broderick and Noel Murray, Pa McCarthy and Percy Walsh, Justin Spratt and Pat Curran.  Team manager Edward Hickey.

Belvedere Trophy

Edward Hickey’s Belvedere team travel to Williamstown on Thursday 30th August with a slender 3.5 to 1.5 lead after the first leg.

It won’t be easy to win 2 matches here but with a place in the final at stake our team will be ready for the challenge.

Seamus Powers Into Weekend Just Missing A Tiger Woods Tee Time

Seamus Power admitted his knees were knocking in holing a testy three-foot putt on the final hole for par and be assured of contesting all four rounds of the Northern Trust at Paramus, New Jersey.

Power was the last to tee-up on day two of the opening event of the FedEx Cup Play-Off Series and the very last to putt out in a round of a second straight score of a level par 71 and walk from the course at 6.28pm local time.
