Seamus Power keeps his PGA Tour dream alive

Seamus Power birdied his penultimate hole to keep his PGA Tour dream alive by a whisker at the first stage of the Q-School in North Carolina.

The West Waterford star make a crucial birdie at the 17th at The Club at Irish Creek in Kannapolis, closing with a one under 71 to make next month’s second stage on the five under par limit.

Gordonsville, VA – Through seven holes of play in Friday’s final round of the eGolf Tour’s Spring Creek Classic, Seamus Power of Waterford, Ireland found himself trailing leader Adam Mitchell by three shots at 9-under par. A staggering finish featuring birdies on seven of his final 11 holes gave Power a come-from-behind win with a 16-under 197 total for a stunning five-shot victory, and his second win of the year.

The Spring Creek Classic was the 13th of 24 events in the 2012 eGolf Tour season and was contested this week at Spring Creek Golf Club in Gordonsville, VA. The event is one of ten 54-hole events the tour is conducting in 2012.

Entering Friday’s final round, Power and Mitchell were tied for the tournament lead at11-under 131 through 36 holes of play. For much of the afternoon, it appeared as if Mitchell was headed towards his first career eGolf Tour title.

Davidson, NC – Seamus Power of Waterford, Ireland entered the final round of the eGolf Tour’s River Run Classic with a three-shot lead following rounds of 64-66—130 to start his week. On a picture perfect day just north of Charlotte, NC, Power made good on his vast potential with a final-round 70 to post a three-day total of 16-under 200 and capture his first eGolf Tour title, as well as the $15,000 first-place prize.

The River Run Classic is the fifth of 24 scheduled events on the 2012 eGolf Tour schedule, and is being contested this week at River Run Country Club in Davidson, NC. The event is the first of 10 scheduled 54-hole events on the tour’s 2012 schedule.

Entering Friday’s final round, Power was in sole possession of the lead at 14-under par, three shots clear of Canadian Cam Burke, and five shots ahead of Kevin Foley of Somerville, NJ.

Early on in the final round, it looked as though Burke might try and steal Power’s thunder. Birdies at Nos. 1 and 2 moved Burke to 13-under, while a birdie-bogey stretch on Nos. 2 and 3 by Power closed the gap to just one shot with 15 holes to play.
